Pamela Hartshorne
A beautifully-written time-slip novel set in present-day and Tudor period York. It was good to read such an accurate depiction of the city in both periods, and to find that the central character’s ‘slips’ into the past were both credible and disturbing. So disturbing, in fact, that I didn’t ‘enjoy’ the journey quite as much as I might have done, had the subject-matter been lighter. But it was most interesting to discover in the Epilogue, that the author was inspired by the discovery of two skeletons found walled-up in a house in Stonegate… that gave me quite a shiver!
