I love Phil Rickman’s books – fast-paced stories with switching points of view. But I do wish he’d just round things off for the benefit of readers who have kept up with the twists and turns, but need just a little bit more explanation at the end! That’s my criticism – my praise as always for vivid characters, believable plots even when the supernatural comes into it, and that sense he gives to the reader of having inhabited the landscape. I’ve recently enjoyed a visit to Hereford and the Welsh Marches – and all because I love his work!
